Closeup of the horse and rider statue. The form and layout of the "wound" suggest that this is a bullet hole, presumably from World War II. In fact there are a few of them all over the horse and rider. For most of the holes there is an entry and an exit wound on the other side, which is a strong reminder of how powerful and deadly those guns were and are.
