Sidenote: My camera is broken. The Powershot finally died of the infamous E18 error caused by a failure of the lens mechanism. I was able to fix it twice myself, but this time, I fear, it is beyond repair.

Now my dilemma is: Where to go from here? I am thinking about buying a DSLR (maybe not a Canon this time ...), but I am not sure. Or should I stay with the compact cameras. Any suggestions? However, until I find a replacement, I will continue the blog (on an even more irregular basis) by digging up stuff from the archive.
